La Paz Goes Solar

In September 2013, a 39 megawatt solar plant, built by Gauss Energia, began generating 82 gigawatt hours a year. Called Aura I, the solar plant became the largest solar installation in Mexico. And a second facility called Grupotec I is set to go online, adding the remainder of the city’s power requirements and making La Paz 100 percent solar powered – as well as part of a growing global movement toward solar power.
For a modestly sized city such as La Paz, its speedy ascent to green power and energy self-reliance is quite a feat. Aura Solar I replaced a large thermoelectric facility last year with its 30 MW output. Its 131,800 one-axis tracked polycrystalline photovoltaic modules are able to provide power for 164,000 people (64 percent of the population).

Located in the Baja California Sur region, La Paz is distinctly suited to solar due to its consistently sunny weather. As reported last year “Experts say the area clocks in at about 5.5 kWh/m2/day, which is “about two times the average levels in Germany and 35 percent higher than southern California.”

A message from the owner

We purchased the land in 2006 and own it free and clear. We planned Vista De Vistas with a focus toward the green, active, outdoor oriented, middle class North Americans from their 30’s to 60’s — the biking, hiking, camping R.E.I and Sierra Club enthusiasts, who have little interest in night club oriented resort towns like Cabo, but who would love to retire or to be able to stay for part of the year in a beautiful, sunny, warm, environmentally sensitive community.

With the explosion of Solar Energy production, Vista De Vistas now has a new opportunity to lead the way in sustainable living. Over 200 acres of land are availble for this new dynamic option.

Vista De Vistas represents a unique opportunity for ownership of home-sites with vast expansive views of the sea and mountains set in a desert conservation reserve of mesas and canyons, much of which will be forever set aside through restrictive covenants. Half of the total land area will be in green belts that will be adjacent to every residential area, with hiking, biking and horse riding trails woven throughout the green areas. Critical to the success of sales at Vista De Vistas Baja is the ability to create a unique environment that is recognized as a truly low impact, low density, and tranquil destination. Vista De Vistas will be an environmental sanctuary with some of the most affordable price entry points in all of Baja California Sur, with easy proximity to an urban center and international airport with direct flights to many US cites including Los Angeles.

Vista De Vistas Baja presents a special opportunity for affordable conscientiously designed homes in a close and supportive community. We believe that it will be seen as a true pioneer in the low- density, low-impact, sustainable development arena in Mexico in the near future as it develops over the next few years.

The Grand Eco-Village Plan

Now with a Solar Farm Option!

Our original environmental development plan was focused, directed, and overseen by Vista De Vistas vice president of design and planning, Ernesto Fonseca. Ernesto brings his unique background of being a trained Mexican architect, with years of Mexican construction experience, coupled with master and doctorate studies at The State University of Arizona in environmental design and master planning. All of Vista De Vistas designs will be internationally certified by the LEED and/or Green Gloves ecological certification program.

With the addition of the Solar Farm, Vista De Vistas is leading the way in energy.
